But me, a relative nobody, came fourth this year, which is pretty damn good! Now I want to do even better and maybe knock one out of the way!"

Check out footage from the shoot here…

What is she thinking? As good as she looks - and no one is denying that - by the time boys are thinking about buying their calendar for next year, Chanelle will be long forgotten in the celebrity stakes. There will be at least a couple more talentless limelight-crazed contestants from the new Big Brother, who will bring out their own 12 page ring-bound, self-indulgent portfolios.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2008-05-28T14:25:28Z</dcterms:modified>

Happy New Year, Bye O.C.!

Happy New Year to you all.

And it certainly got off to a bang for certain celebrities. Let's hope Britney didn't start the new year as she means to go on, after collapsing (sorry, falling asleep) at a party she was hosting at Pure nightclub in Las Vegas. And we can't blame her friendship with Paris Hilton on this one, cause Paris was celebrating NYE in Sydney with her on-off man, Stavros Niarchos. She was there to launch a low-carb beer called Bondi Blonde. Apparently she was paid the equivalent of £2million for a couple of days work and a free holiday in sunny Sydney! Alright for some.

The big news today (for me, anyway) is the cancellation of The OC. Well it's not ending today, but at the end of the fourth series. Apparently ratings haven't been the same since the excellent first season, and have suffered since Mischa Barton left to go find fame in the movies. (Which hasn't happened yet). I'll miss Seth and Summer - they were the perfect couple on screen and off. At least until the real life honies, Adam and Rachel, split late last year. Anyway, here's hoping for a happy fictional ending at least.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2007-01-04T14:29:37Z</dcterms:modified>

From Kanye to The Feeling

What’s all this about Kanye crashing the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards last night?! Apparently he was mighty peeved at losing out in the Best Video category to Justice Vs Simian for ‘We Are Your Friends’, so much so that he ran on stage and gave the poor sods a piece of his mind while J&S stood by bemused and embarrassed. Kanye said: “My video cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it, I was jumping across canyons! If I don't win, the awards show loses credibility. Nothing against you (J&S), but hell man."

As if the self-styled king of hip-hop doesn’t win enough awards already! I took the liberty of researching just how many awards Kanye has picked up in the last couple of years. Behold… six (six!!) Grammys, a Brit Award, three MOBOs, a handful of Source awards, World Music awards, the list goes on. Not to mention that he’s already picked up a Best Video award from MTV, a 2005 award for Jesus Walks. You can bet Justice & Simian haven’t had that many steak dinners, let alone awards. Hmph.

From the king of hip hop to the crown princes of pop, I’m off to see The Feeling tonight at the Shepherd’s Bush Empire. I’ve seen them live a few times before, including a special performance in a pub for press earlier this year when only about 10 people turned up. Any band who covers my favourite karaoke track at live gigs is alright by me. (Video Killed The Radio Star, since you asked).

I went to a screening of The Last King Of Scotland the other night. There’s already Oscar buzz around Forest Whitaker who plays Idi Amin, the former dictator of Uganda. His co-star James McAvoy was ace of course (getting to use his own accent and play a Scot for once) and the film was beautifully shot (from the director of Touching The Void) but man, was it brutal! It follows how James’s character, the president’s personal doctor and advisor, is blinded by the good life as and fails to realise that 100s or even 1000s of Ugandans are being tortured or killed by the regime. Heavy viewing but I recommend it.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-11-03T16:12:42Z</dcterms:modified>

George Michael

Lots of you have left comments regarding this article where we asked your thoughts about George Michael smoking a spliff on the South Bank Show. I’m kind of in both camps, I don’t mind what he does in his private life, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea to talk about the joys of drug-taking on telly. Not that the majority of his fans are young and impressionable but hey, it’s still probably not a great idea. Saying that, I’m a big fan of his older stuff and I’ve bought tickets to one of his London gigs later this month, I’m really looking forward to it.

I went to a movie screening the other night for ‘Starter For Ten’ starring James McAvoy from Shameless (and Narnia) who I think is amazing. It’s a feelgood flick about university life and how he’s obsessed with University Challenge. Not earth shattering by any means, but I find James McAvoy so watchable.

Which is why I’m so looking forward to tonight – another James McAvoy moving screening! This time it’s The Last King of Scotland which is already generating Oscar buzz for his co-star, the great Forrest Whitaker. I’ll let you know what I think of the film.

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-11-03T16:07:02Z</dcterms:modified>

Channel 4's 'Desperate' Bid

So, Channel 4 lost the rights to new episodes of Lost last week, losing a bidding war with Sky One. It really must’ve hurt cause they’ve just forked out £40 million to hold onto the next series of Desperate Housewives. That’s £975,000 per episode and the most expensive purchase of a show by a UK channel EVER. It’s also way more than they were prepared to pay for Lost, which surprised me, because surely Lost is a more high quality show? Or perhaps I’m just bias. But surely the kudos of having such a high profile award-winning show like Lost on their channel had to count for something?

I guess the trouble with Lost is you’re either in, or you’re out. I missed a couple of weeks mid-way through season 2 and then it was such a commitment to try to catch up, and before I knew it I’d fallen so far behind that nothing made sense. You can’t dip in and out of Lost, and I guess that affected ratings. Unlike the fluffy soap opera of Desperate Housewives. Bring on series 3!

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-10-26T15:47:06Z</dcterms:modified>

Are all celebrities created equal?

Hi and welcome to the first MSN Entertainment Celebrity Blog. And not just my first blog, but my first week at MSN, getting to know a new bunch of people, new office, new part of London (we're in the middle of Soho which means I can buy a pair of shoes in my lunch break and still have time to eat!).

Seeing as you’re reading this, it’s likely that you’re as obsessed with celebrity news and gossip as I am. The star hitting today’s headlines is, surprise surprise, Pete Doherty. But after good news earlier this week (speculation that he and Kate are engaged and expecting a baby) he’s gone and ruined it all by lashing out at fans at a Babyshambles gig in Italy and brawling with a photographer outside his hotel. But even after months (or is it years?) of bad behaviour, I still have time for lovable Pete, I really hope he sorts himself out and settles down with Ms Moss.

It got me thinking about how I feel protective of some celebrities and willing to let them slip up time and time again, but for others I feel nothing but spite (but hey, I’m still obsessed with their goings-on none the less). Some celebrities, like Pete, Nicole Richie and Britney, I’m rooting for all the way, but others, Lindsay Lohan, Scarlett Johansson and Sienna Miller, for example, I relish reading not-so-flattering stories about them. Hey, maybe I’m just jealous of their success, their partying, their A-list boyfriends. And the stars that aren’t so perfect, including Nicole (eating disorder), Britney (where do I start) and Victoria Beckham (she's just insecure, don't you see??) I’m behind all the way. Not to mention perennial favourites - Jennifer Aniston, anyone with the surname Minogue, I could go on and on.

Anyway, I'm sure you'll pick up on my bias from time to time but for me, I'm as happy reading (and writing) about D-list celebs as I am about A-list.

Till next time...

<msn:type>blogentry</msn:type><live:type>blogentry</live:type><live:typelabel>Blog entry</live:typelabel>

<dcterms:modified>2006-10-24T16:11:06Z</dcterms:modified>
