Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand are to be suspended from the BBC and all their shows taken off air, director general Mark Thompson has announced.

The decision came after the BBC launched an inquiry into the pair’s behaviour after they made prank phone calls to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs and aired them on Russell’s Radio 2 show on October 18.

Both stars have since apologised to Sachs for their actions, but the BBC decided to suspended the highly-paid pair after they received over 10,000 complaints, and both Gordon Brown and David Cameron spoke out about the incident.

Ofcom announced it is investigating whether the prank calls broke the broadcasting code, which sets standards for the content of all UK TV and radio programmes.

Just as Britney Spears seems to be back to her best – with a new single and an upcoming performance on X Factor – her father’s control over her personal and financial affairs has been made permanent. It means he can control what she spends her money on, who she associates with, what work she does and where she lives.

Jamie Spears was named permanent conservator of his daughter's affairs and her estate during a court hearing on October 28, with the full support of his famous daughter.

But those close to Britney say that ‘permanent’ doesn’t necessary mean her father will control her affairs forever, and that the decision was made to prove to the courts that she’s serious about her recovery. A friend told People magazine: “The conservatorship being made permanent in name is primarily to ensure increased time with her children, and provide support for her music and work goals.”

Britney’s lawyer Terry Wasserman, added: “Ms Spears can regain control of her life anytime – as long as her doctors feel she's able to manage her own affairs.”

Naomi Campbell has denied rumours she is expecting her first child with her billionaire Russian boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin.

After pregnancy rumours began swirling on the internet, the model’s lawyers released a statement saying the reports were "absolutely false and fabricated".

The 38-year-old recently spoke publicly about wanting children, and underwent an operation to repair her damaged fallopian tubes in February. “I’d love to have a baby. It’s every woman’s dream and I feel that’s a huge part of my life that I’m yet to experience,” Naomi said at the time.

And her billionaire boyfriend recently hinted he may pop the question soon. Speaking to OK! last month, the property developer said: "Naomi is wonderful. Will I put a ring on her finger? Maybe very soon."

The pair have been dating since meeting at the Cannes Film Festival in May.

Comic book legend Stan Lee, who created Spiderman, X-Men, the Hulk and the Fantastic Four, has revealed he wants to create a Posh and Becks comic strip. But it wouldn’t just feature the  Beckhams going about their everyday, (extra-)ordinary lives; it would see the pair turned into a crime fighting duo!

“There are so many ways to do it,” the 85-year-old explained. “We could make them a crime fighting team where the soccer is just a facade. Or we could make them spies or we could make it a comedy where one of them wants to be an adventurer? He’s a very attractive, personable guy and she’s a very attractive, interesting-looking girl. I haven’t met the Beckhams yet but I think we could do a great show.”

The comic master is already creating a cartoon character for Paris Hiton, so the Beckhams could well be next.

Reports today state that Jade Goody is planning to marry on-off boyfriend Jack Tweed as soon as he gets out of jail. The cancer sufferer realises her time with her boyfriend may be short, and apparently wants to make their relationship official as soon as possible.

The Mirror states that Jade will spend £10,000 of her own money on her engagement ring because Jack is serving 18 months for assault and isn’t due for release from Chelmsford prison in Essex until May.

The tabloid quotes a friend of the reality star as saying: “Since Jade was diagnosed she has been getting her priorities straight. She has realised that Jack is really important to her and she wants to live every moment to the full. He really wanted to buy it himself but I said he could just pay me back later, that’s absolutely fine. Otherwise I’ll have to wait.”

Jade underwent a hysterectomy in September after being diagnosed with cervical cancer, but has since been told the cancer has spread.

One of last year’s most memorable X Factor contestants has been made homeless.

Emma Chawner and her family are living in a car after being evicted from their Lancashire home. Emma rose to fame during the 2007 X Factor auditions when Simon Cowell slammed her performance of My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion, and blamed her parents letting Emma believe she had what it takes to win the competition.

Emma’s performance was deemed so bad that it won her a spot on last year’s live finale as one of the 'best of the worst'.

It seems the 19-year-old’s incessant singing that was the final straw for neighbours, who lodged 134 complaints about the noise coming from Emma’s family’s council house, including “loud music” and “singing late at night,” before the council made the decision to evict the family.

The reason for Madonna and husband Guy Ritchie's divorce has been revealed: a 'bitter row' over a financial gift.

The Daily Mirror reports that the Material Girl gave director Ritchie £1.5m in April of this year to finance a documentary, but he later shelved the project, citing problems with their marriage.

The 50-year-old singer reportedly then phoned her lawyer asking for a divorce. It is claimed that the money hasn't been returned, nor has the project been completed.

This latest revelation caps off an eventful week for the couple. The pair's divorce was confirmed on Wednesday and later that night, Madonna issued a thinly-veiled insult apparently directed at Ritchie during a gig in Boston, when she dedicated song Miles Away to the 'emotionally retarded'. Ritchie's father later responded by labelling the singer as 'beastly'. And on Thursday, London's Madame Tussauds removed the wedding ring from their Madonna waxwork.

This hasn’t been a great week for Britney Spears. She was accused of driving without a valid California driver's licence back in August 2007, and after months of delays (as lawyers attempted unsuccessfully to get the case scrapped), it’s back to court for the star.

Dad Jamie Spears is representing Britney in court, but when he took to the stand to defend his daughter, he made a surprising announcement – Papa Spears told the jury that the star was making plans to quit Los Angeles and move permanently back to her hometown of Louisiana. We can only assume that means Britney is happy to leave her sons with their daddy, Kevin Federline, and visit them whenever she’s in LA.

“Her home is Louisiana,” Jamie said, adding there are “plans right now” for Britney to build a house near her mother’s residence and more there as soon as possible.

The singer's lawyer Michael J Flanagan argued that the star had a valid Louisiana licence at the time of the incident and therefore did not need a Californian permit as she was only a temporary resident of LA.

Britney is likely to get off with just a fine, but she could face up to six months in jail if found guilty.

Madonna and Guy Ritchie have confirmed they are to divorce after nearly eight years of marriage but, despite the fact that Madonna has an estimated £300 million fortune, reports state that Guy told lawyers he wants “not one penny” of his wife’s money.

Madonna has enlisted the help of lawyer Fiona Shackleton, who represented Paul McCartney in his divorce from Heather Mills, though it’s expected that the couple will reach a settlement without going through the courts.

The Sun newspaper, who broke news of the divorce announcement, has revealed the reasons for the split. According to the newspaper, Madonna was unhappy that her husband didn’t support her love of the Kabbalah faith, didn’t want to move from London to New York, and didn’t support her plans to adopt another child. The report also states that Madge was unhappy with the amount of time Guy spent at the couple’s Punchbowl pub in Mayfair.

Madonna took to the stage in Boston last night for the latest date on her world tour and seems to send a veiled message to fans about the split. As she introduced the song Miles Away, Madge said: “This song is for the emotionally retarded. You might know a few people who fall into that category. God knows I do.”

Angelina Jolie has revealed how partner Brad Pitt changed her views on having children.

The mother-of-six, a strong advocate of adoption, said she never had any desire to give birth until she met Brad. “I think one of the life changing things that he did is that I was absolutely never going to get pregnant. I never felt that it was the right thing to do. I suppose I just looked at him and loved him and just felt open to [getting pregnant]. I suddenly wanted to. It’s one of those things you can’t explain...

“I wouldn't trade that experience for the world,” Angelina said. “It taught me a lot about life, just the process of it, and now we have three other beautiful children that wouldn’t otherwise be here.” There are currently six Jolie-Pitt children: three-month-old twins Knox and Vivienne and two-year-old Shiloh, and their adopted siblings Zahara, three, Pax, five, and Maddox, seven.

Angelina revealed the couple plan to expand their brood by at least one more, and dismissed reports she recently had a tummy tuck: “I’m with a man who’s evolved enough to look at my body and see it as more beautiful, because of the journey it has taken and what it has created. He genuinely sees it that way, so I genuinely feel even sexier.”

The National Enquirer is claiming that Britney Spears’ little sister Jamie Lynn is pregnant with her second child. Her first daughter Maddie is just three months old.

The 17-year-old is eight weeks along, the magazine states, and understandably stunned as she apparently didn’t know she could get pregnant while still breastfeeding. Jamie Lynn openly admitted while pregnant with Maddie that she never expected to become a mother so young. “It was a shock for both of us, so unexpected,” she said at the time. “It’s something I have to deal with, definitely, I’m looking forward to being the best mum I can be.”

There has been no confirmation or denial from the Spears camp yet, but if it’s true, the teenager is following her older sister’s example – Britney gave birth to her two sons, now aged two and three, within 12 months of each other.

Things aren't exactly looking on the up-and-up for Amy Winehouse. According to reports, the star is on suicide watch after holding a knife to her chest and questioning the reason the live. Oh dear.

Word on the street is that Amy's rather obsessed with dying young and has "lost the will to live" after hubby Blake Fielder-Civil refused parole recently.

A source told the Daily Star that the starlet has a death wish. "Her emotions are exaggerated," the source said. "She is either high all the time or when she hears something she doesn't like, she's suicidal. She is all for this stupid Sid Vicious notion of dying young. She is not scared of it and believes it is her destiny."

Amy's London spokesperson has denied all the reports, saying that Amy met her father for dinner at the Dorchester hotel last night and is currently mulling over work on a Quincy Jones tribute album.

The Jolie-Pitt clan returned to the States this week for the world premiere of Angelina's new film, 1920s thriller Changeling.

Ange looked great, but admitted to reporters that it felt "strange" to be back in the spotlight after so long. She hasn't been in America since the birth of twins Vivienne and Knox in July.

Brad was by his partner's side, even missing the German premiere of his new flick, Burn After Reading, to walk Changeling's red carpet with Angelina.

When asked about her kids, the new mum said "everybody's great," despite being desperate for some sleep. Apparently the couple have hired help "a few nights a week" to assist in caring for their six children.

Angelina confirmed she is breast-feeding the twins, which she believes to be "part of your body's recovery." She also said the babies were growing up nicely and "developing personalities."

The Jolie-Pitt clan will return to Germany soon, where Brad has begun work on the Quentin Tarantino WW2 film, Inglorious Bastards.

Britney Spears’s ex boyfriend, Adnan Ghalib, has reared his ugly head again – this time to claim that he has a sex tape featuring the starlet which he is reportedly willing to sell for “the right price”.

According to Heat magazine, Adnan has claimed that “There is such a tape, but I won’t discuss prices for hypothetical enquiries. Unless there is a locked-in deal, I will go no further.”

Britney reportedly wears nothing but a pink wig and a smile in the two-hour tape, which the former paparazzi photographer claimed was shot during a holiday in Mexico.

We wouldn’t be surprised if his claims are true. After all, Britney’s never been shy about cavorting in front of a home video camera – ex-husband Kevin made several videos in the early days of their relationship which were subsequently leaked after they split.

Britney’s gearing up for her big comeback and is already booked to perform her upcoming single on X Factor, so this revelation couldn’t come at a worst time.
